Hello, dears. It’s finally 2019 and I’m so excited about what this year’s gonna bring to my life. 2018 taught me so much about myself, my choices, and my goals.

I came into 2018 severely depressed with little hope for the future. I didn’t have any new years resolutions back then as I didn’t believe I could commit to anything.

It’s funny how everybody jokes about new years resolutions. About how it’s very likely you’re not gonna last till the end of January.

I get that –  it’s a funny thing to joke about if you don’t have a good sense of humor and can’t think of anything original.

I like to hear about other people’s resolutions.

It’s very personal cuz it’s like admitting what you dislike about yourself and it takes a lot of courage to find your flaws and even bigger to want to get better. Everyone wants to be the best version of themselves there is nothing funny about that. With the beginning of the new year it’s only natural you feel like you can become a new version of yourself as well. Whether you stick with your resolutions or learn to live with your flaws for one more year that doesn’t really matter.

Wanting to change is what’s important.

I have made a few new years resolutions or goals for 2019 myself. I’m in the best place (mentally) I have ever been in my entire short life but I still believe I can be better. I want to improve in what I’m already good at, do something different and explore more.

I want to keep blogging.

I want to keep spending most of my time on the internet working my ass off even though my decision is not well met with my closed ones.

It’s difficult to explain why I don’t want to drink and a party that much. Why I can’t spend my after-work time out in the city when I have another job to work on after my first job. It’s hard to explain that this is what it wants to do. That it’s exciting and relaxing at the same time and worth spending my free time on.

I want to write more personal stuff, more opinions, more thoughts. In 2018 I already stepped out of my comfort zone writing about very personal topics but the goals are to do it better and bigger.

The most personal stuff I ever wrote:

I want to post at least 1-2 times per week. I want to extend my audience, be more in touch with my followers and readers. Try my best to reply to your kind comments I’ll work on it I promise.

I want to dress according to my fashion sense.

I spent a lot of time recommending your brands, clothes, styles, and outfits but I feel like I still wear the same jeans and shirt to work. I am finally at a job where I can actually afford to buy designer clothes and that’s what my goal is.

Dress how I like other people to be dressed.

I want to buy that colorful coat that none of my friends like but I do. I want to combine that different patterns that I would simply not be allowed to do in my small hometown. I want to catch your attention. The goal is for strangers to see my outfit. This is Prague for god’s sake. Nothing is prohibited.

I want my fashion brand to be legit this year.

It’s been 9 months now since me and my co-founders started working on our brand. A lot has changed over this time and I’m so glad we didn’t rush into it like I wanted to. I am the youngest of us all and I want to accelerate the whole process so much. I’m so lucky to have much wiser women along my site who would slow down my excitement at needed times. I look at things differently now. I had a lot of time to think, to explore, to learn that lead me into being more cautious and calm about this whole process.

I’m still super thrilled but I don’t want to rush into anything. I want my brand to be the best it can be. The best we can create. I want it to be morally and ecologically okay. I want our advertisement for the brand to be just right and if it takes a little bit longer than I originally intended then I’m just gonna go with it.

Website and shop 2019 for sure though. That’s the goal.

I want to travel.

I’m in love with the cities I’ve never been to and with people I’ve never met.

2019 will be the year of my first solo trip. I want to visit countries I have never been to so I can scratch down my world map and get a few steps closer to my longtime travel the world plan. My goals are to go to Switzerland, to Spain, to Ireland, to Ukraine, to Finland…. hopefully I’m gonna travel much more this year.

I want to start drawing again cuz God I miss it unbelievably. It’s the feeling of creating something that satisfies me so much. Whether it’s painting, writing, or even cooking.

The fact that I can bring my thoughts and ideas into real physical form is chilling.

I don’t like to look at or even keep the final art thought – that’s why I’m so fond of cooking as you get to destroy your creation right away. I just like the process much more than the product itself.

I want to exercise and eat healthier.

Typical new Year resolution – and hardest one to keep but I’m just happy that so many people realize their lifestyle is not good and want to make a change.  I would like to minimize the amount of fast food I eat just as the amount of frozen food I consume. I’d like to add more fiber into my diet and I have already started by taking fiber supplements daily. I believe I have enough exercise as it is already cuz I’m on my feet all day long at work but I’d like to add some simple at-home fitness while watching Netflix.

I’d like to take things as they are.

I don’t want to live that stressful life like I did before that left my health a mess. I don’t want to rush and push. Everything will work out eventually and my whole life so far has been proof of that. I never knew my strength before 2018 happened but now I know no matter what god/destiny/universe/luck/or chance brings my way I’ll deal with it when I get there.

I would love to hear about your new year’s resolution and your goals in the comments.

I salute your effort, support your will, and wish you a great time living the new you.

I leave you in my first 2019 article with a wish of a happy new year full of health and prosperity and my wishes to you are greatly summed up in this quote:

Thank you so much for your attention

May all your goals and dreams come true

Good luck with your resolutions! They are really very grounded and absolutely achievable. Actually, dressing as you like to dress others is a really nice idea. Too often people think that clothes are just an accessory but it can be nice, never mind worthwhile, to put the time into your appearance and your sense of style. It’s a part of self- care after all!

What great resolutions you have on here.
You hit a lot of resolutions that I myself hope to attain this coming year.
    1. Mental Health: Since 2017 I’ve been an emotional mess after my grandmother’s death. In one year I managed to let myself go and fall into a HUGE depression hole that I still haven’t managed to get out of. Hoping I can get some help this year for it.
    2. Blogging: I started up my wordpress again and honestly I’ve been enjoying blogging again. Reading books and writing about them makes me happy.
    3. Dressing Better: I can agree with this. Usually all I wear is leggings and tees. I really would like to start dressing better, especially since I work in a bookstore. It sucks though because we kinda have a uniform.
    4. Traveling: I definitely want to go away for christmas this year and finally enjoy somewhere different. But first, I must get over my fear of flying.
    5. Exercise and Healthy Eating: I started this in 2015 and ended up losing 73lbs in 6 months. I have to start again because after getting depressed and being on birth control I gained about 15lbs again and it has my self-esteem in the dumps, but also some nagging injuries have put me out of commission from the gym.
I wish you continuous success and a great New Year!!

    Dearest Natalia–
I am so glad to hear that your New Years is starting off so well! Your resolutions sound great, too! Keep up the good work, stay focused, and realise that many dreams and goals can come into reality, but be patient to realise that they often do so *gradually*, step by step. Like the old saying goes, “Rome wasn’t conquered in a day!” I wish you all the best, Natalia!

Well done on taking the ‘first step’ of making a better you than the one you were last year! (Not that there was necessarily anything bad with the 2018 you!)
Writing down what you want to achieve/improve upon is step 1, step two is priortising them, step 3 is beginning to do them and making any changes you might need to in your life schedule to help you take each action necessary to achieving each ‘goal’.
Maybe start a little slowly – choose one or two to begin with, maybe a simple easy one to give you the confidence you can succeed in your aims (Confidence/self-belief is important!)
Make a 2 lists that you can keep with you at all times and refer to them OFTEN as you move toward the changes: 1 is a prioritised short ‘point list’ of all the things you would like to do this year generally, and one is the steps you need to take/do in order to begin to make the things happen. As you do each step on list 2 cross it off and add the next step you have to do.
I realised something this morning you might find interesting…?
The most important part of any business venture is not the product, the brand name, or the maker… it is how you market the business/product. Great marketing brings the biggest profits/sales/interest/benefit to any business.
Same for blogging – the content is secondary to how well you market your blog both internally and externally – make people want to come to your blog, help them enjoy the experience so they want to come back for more.
The most important thing for most people (consumers) is, of course, themselves, their personal happiness. A successful business will recognise and cater to this basic need in all of us.
    Happy New Year, Nat! 🙂

Hi there, I enjoyed sharing your aspirations for 2019 and really hope you grow positively this year.
I’m mum to 4 young children, 5, 4, 2 and 4 months old. I feel like the last 5 years have revolved around babies, until 2 weeks.
I’ve started a blog and have plans for it, now my train of thought is growing beyond.. nappies, meal plans, bed time routines etc
I’m creating something from my own passion and I’m totally enjoying it, so create ideas and plans and push push push forward x

  20. January 5, 2019 / 4:27 am

I absolutely adore this list. “Take things as they are” really resonated with me… I want to be better at this in 2019 too. Can’t wait to follow along this year!!

Good positive thoughts happening here, Natalia! You would never read this and believe it is by the same person who has had so many problems in the past. Just one thing – I am on my feet all day too, working on our land. I can walk forever, but give me a hill or stairs and I am buggered! It’s a different kind of exercise that you and I do, and it also pays to do other stuff too. At the School For Senior Citizens that I go to (as guest member, I might add – not QUITE 60 yet!!) the local hospital comes along and teaches gentle stretches and exercises that can be done sitting, lying, standing on one leg, whatever. It is amazing how good the muscles and tendons can feel even when being lazy and gentle and not being a mad gym or exercise fanatic!
    Have a great 2019! 🙂

These are great goals! Reaching them is all a state of mind. The more determined you are, especially during times that we fall off the wagon, the more likely we are to achieve them. Remember with God’s help all things are possible. “Commit to Jehovah whatever you do, And your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)

When I was your age, I wore what I thought was cool, six months later, the rest of my crowd would be wearing it, too. One of the most important things that come to us from blogging or/and opening a store, is having confidence in your own opinion. It feels so refreshing to not follow the rest of the sheep. There is only one you! Confidence!
