Hey. March 2019 is the month Netflix released another one of their original movies that took the world by storm.

So what is Triple frontier about?

WEIGHT OF THE MONEY.

If we look at the plot of the movie, we find a simple storyline of a heist. Five former soldiers met up to steal 250 million dollars from a South American drug lord.

To be fair, I didn’t find the plot interesting at all.

The heist took place very quickly and we get to see the afterward of that action for the rest of the movie. It’s 2 hours long so it’s easy to predict shit will go down and you just know someone will die. Place your bets on who’s gonna be the first to go and then just wait and see.

Even though it was so predictable and cheesy sometimes, the creators saved it all by its portrayal.

What so unique about the movie then?

The casting.

God bless whoever decided to put Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, and Pedro Pascal in one movie. I was not immune to a sight like that. Five super hot men in soldier uniforms looking badass as hell – who would care what the plot is about? And that’s the sad truth. I admit the only reason I started watching it was because of the incredible cast.

It’s surprising to see the cute relationships between such thought guys. This movie did a good job in shattering toxic masculinity but still preserving the manhood. It’s so confusing to see those guys kill without a blink of an eye and just break down a minute later as that’s not something that’s usually presented in the media.

Boys’ friendships got so real.

We get to see war heroes unsuccessfully adapt to everyday life.

We get to see their thirst for adventure.

We get to see their greed for better life money promises.

We get to see their fall.

The movie has an incredible soundtrack that greatly represents the mood of the movie. Lots of Metallica.

It’s dark.

It’s heavy.

It’s adventurous and it’s so good.

It was so chilling to hear Garrett Hedlund sing – Somewhere There Is A Mother… that one minute stuck with me.

Here is a short clip I keep replaying of the song.

The cinematography is just perfect. Even though I don’t remember many details of the movie, it’s more about the feeling I was left with after finishing. It’s fascinating how it’s both an easy and hard movie.

Easy for a simple plot – if you space out you won’t miss much. It’s easy to point a finger at bad guys but it’s harder to admit that our 5 hot soldiers are good bad guys.

Hard because of how real and human each character is.

Director  J. C. Chandor did a great job but the main 5 actors did an outstanding job in Triple Frontier and you can check out their work on Netflix now.

Sounds like a mediocre screenplay with a great director. May all screenwriters have such good fortune!

I was suprised how the movie was not about the heist but the downfall that followed because of their greeds. That was interesting plot wise

Ha! So true though. My friend asked me what this was about and I was just like Oscar Isaac is in it! They steal some stuff. Just go with it!
